TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for IT professionals responsible for using the CONTROL-M product to create, schedule, manage and monitor batch processes in various operational environments.

COURSE ABSTRACT

This course will teach students to use CONTROL-M to create, schedule, manage and monitor batch processes.  It includes an overview of the architecture of CONTROL-M as well as instruction in the use of the product.

It is designed to provide the skills necessary for users of this product to complete tasks necessary to create job processing definitions using CONTROL-M Desktop and to monitor active jobs and alerts using Enterprise Manager (EM).

It will also cover the use of the reporting facility to report on CONTROL-M job definitions and batch processing.

The course is based on the most recent release, CONTROL-M 6.4.01, but is suitable for use of earlier versions.  Features belonging only to later versions are clearly identified.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course you will be able to:

• Describe CONTROL-M components and architecture
• Use Enterprise Manager to monitor and control job processes
• Create and maintain jobs and calendars using CONTROL-M desktop
• Create dependencies between processes by defining pre-requisite conditions and manage those dependencies through CONTROL-M EM.
• Use quantitative and control resources to manage CONTROL-M jobs
• Use global conditions to create cross-platform dependencies.
• Use the CONTROL-M Reporting facility
• Edit jobs to raise alerts in required circumstances, directing those alerts to consoles, email or other devices.
• Monitor and manage alerts and use CONTROL-M EM to resolve problems that occurred in a job.
• Implement post-processing steps into CONTROL-M jobs in order to perform actions based on the results of a job.
• Use the new Workload Lifecycle Management features of CONTROL-M version 6.4.01 to compare, restore and report on job changes.
• Describe the differences between the most recent three versions of CONTROL-M.
